We were all incredibly impressed by Star today she showed courage and determination to get across the rope bridge. On her first attempt she stepped off the bridge but on the second go she got all the way across and touched the tree. She said “Yes | did it” she gave the adult a big hug. What a great achievement and a wonderful day!
Forest School
An area of the school field was set aside in April 2014 to enable it to be developed into a Forest School site. Willow was planted to act as the boundary of the site. Different areas of the site were added which included a muddy patch for digging and looking for worms and other mini beasts, a camp fire circle for small fires to cook marshmallows over, balancing beams to practice walking along, climbing over and under, also a rope swing which is available on each Forest School session. Two newly created mini beast hotels were added to natural structures to attract more mini beasts and insects to the site.
Today the children were presented with a new challenge of a rope bridge. The children needed to have good balance, hand-eye co-ordination and a lot of courage to get themselves across the rope bridge. Dani was a little unsure at first but with encouragement and support he made it across the rope bridge and touched the tree. He said “I am proud” and he gave us a big smile and we were so proud to.
