On Friday 29th January Year 4 visited the Living Rain Forest in Hampton Norreys, near Newbury, as part of their topic Chocolate Rain Forest. During the visit we met and observed many different plants from the banana tree, Mexican Breadfruit and the Hibiscus flowers and plant.
Learning about the Vanilla Orchid discovering that only bees could pollinate it or if Humans tried it would take over 100 times to be pollinated by hand. Making it the second most expensive spice after Saffron.
Meeting many different animals from Goeldi's monkeys, Azara's Agouti, Harry the Armadillo and the two toed Sloth. There was also birds, reptiles and fish within the glasshouses.

Many of the children's favourite animal 's were the Goeldi's Monkeys especially when the mother Monkey kept sticking out her tongue at us. Kai and Robert.
I liked Harry the Armadillo especially when he was digging a hole in his enclosure and disappeared down it to sleep.I also enjoyed playing on the play equipment testing out how it is to move around like a monkey. Lidinha
It was amazing, when you saw the stingray with its smiling face, also cleaning the glass with it's tummy and fins. Imaan.
I have a new mission in life and that is to taste the Mexican Breadfruit! Most surprising was seeing Cinnamon, the sloth spending her entire life upside down, not even bothering to turn 'the right way' for lunch! Miss Szanto

The two toed Sloth was really funny spending it's life hanging upside down, we were so lucky to see it get fed seeing their claws hold the food. I also liked the gift shop. Aqsa.
The Toucan was so loud like a pneumatic drill when it was calling to the keeper for it's food. Mrs Bowler.
