Scientists, Technicians, Engineers and Mathematicians in Year 4
During STEM Week, we have been discovering about various aspects of science, technology, engineering and maths. We kicked the week off with Crystal Maze activities where we solved maths problems from different countries. On Tuesday, we learnt about the periodic table of elements and created posters about the chemicals. We also we learnt lots of facts about Mars and then we had to decide what 6 items we would take with us to land on the surface. Following this, we designed, made and tested a landing vehicle - with more or less success. Lots of astronaut eggs were destroyed but we learnt what makes a good space vessel. (And what doesn't!) Wednesday morning each child took part in a workshop, lead by a teacher and joined by others from all across the year groups. The workshops included, amongst many others, the Giant's Toothpaste, Space Art, Volcanoes and Astronaut Training. Two companies visited us with their experts: first we solved maths problems and then Science Oxford taught us about light in the universe. We had loads of fun whilst expanding our knowledge of our world. Here are some of our photos from the week:
